Unions and Labor Organizations

Unions and labor organizations, formal and informal, have shaped labor history in the United States. Below, we will highlight projects that document the history of particular unions and organizations.

DC Justice for Janitors

The Justice for Janitors movement organized thousands of workers across the country and reinvigorated labor activism among janitorial workers in several cities. Beginning in 2010, the Kalmanovitz Initiative at Georgetown collected the stories of DC Justice for Janitors—union activists, politicians, employers, community leaders, and janitors themselves.
