I remember the day when my father, a West Virginia University professor, accompanied some of his students to Charleston for Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol in February 2018. He texted me a grainy photo of teachers in red shirts standing inside the building, in a room made entirely of marble, in front of a student’s research poster.
